On April 28, the We Are Family Foundation (WAFF), a US-Based non-profit organization, announced its 40 under 20 Global Teen Leaders (GTLs), one of which being our very own founder Mirus Emmanuel Ponon.
Ponon, a 19-year-old DLSU student, bagged a spot among hundreds across the globe who applied for the 2021 Three Dot Dash Just Peace Summit. His principle of ‘Making Advocacy A Lifestyle’ led him to establish Youth Advocates for the Philippines (YAP) in 2019 and ASEAN Youth Advocates Network (AYAN) in 2020.
When Ponon learned of the good news last March, the idea of scaling up AYAN to be more global first came to mind. It was then that the Global Youth Advocates Network (GYAN) started to take its initial shape, leading to its birth and finally, to what it is now.
The summit, previously held in New York, will now convene its 40 exceptional youth leaders virtually from July 12 to August 18, 2021.
